What is the WordPress Community

John Donne said, “No man is an island,” to help us cope with the loneliness we feel at times. We’re social creatures, even if we sometimes forget it.

With the rise of the Internet and the growth of freelance work and remote jobs, it’s easy to feel isolated. When you’re building a site on WordPress or selling products on WooCommerce, it’s not always easy to interact with other people.

WordPress is built on the idea that no one is alone. In fact, it’s a bit like Donne’s famous quote: No person is alone, every person is WordPress.

Record number of updates to improve our plugins

We’ve updated a total of 40 plugins throughout the year, ensuring they offer a simple and intuitive experience for our customers. Ten of these were redesigned, with significant improvements in performance, features, and design.

Examples of this include Ajax SearchAdvanced Reviews, and Email Templates, among others. When it comes to updates, the Subscription plugin update was one of the most significant. We introduced the ‘subscription box’ module, a highly valuable feature that elevates the plugin, as none of our competitors offer it at this price.

For the fifth consecutive year, our Wishlist plugin remains at the top: with nearly 800k active installations, it is the most used wishlist plugin for WooCommerce. Alongside it are YITH WooCommerce Compare and YITH WooCommerce Quick View, the latter of which received a major redesign in 2024.

To date, over two and a half million people are using our plugins, and that fills us with immense joy! Thank you so much for your trust and support.

We continue to grow in many areas

These videos have greatly improved our support service and have been key in minimizing complaints about difficulties or errors in plugin setup. In fact, 56% of those who purchase our plugins watch our video tutorials to learn how to configure them—making it an incredibly useful tool for both them and us. This is why we dedicate time to planning and creating these videos.

We’ve continued to expand in various areas, one of which is our YouTube channels, now with over six thousand subscribers. There, you’ll find more than 590 videos (64 of which were published in 2024) in three languages: English, Spanish, and Italian. These videos provide step-by-step guides on how to set up our plugins. In fact, our users spent a total of 9,000 hours watching our tutorials in 2024 alone!

We had the pleasure of attending many WordPress community events, including WordCamp Europe, which this year took place in Turin, Italy—the country where YITH was born. We also had the privilege of participating in several WordCamps across Spain (Zaragoza, Torrelodones, Chiclana, Granada, and Pontevedra, although we couldn’t attend the latter as it coincided with our team-building event) and Italy (WP Rome Core Days). Events like these are truly enriching, allowing us to connect with customers and partners, strengthen team bonds, and gather valuable feedback to keep growing.

The unity of YITH: the secret ingredient for success

The secret to YITH’s success is no mystery; it lies in its foundation. The team has always been one of its steadfast pillars.

It’s true that one of the team’s greatest strengths is our experience in the WordPress sector: an average of 8 years across the 39 team members, adding up to a total of 285 years in the industry. But there are other factors that set us apart: respect, trust, unwavering support, and the strong camaraderie within the team make all the difference. We celebrate each other’s achievements, offer support when someone needs encouragement from their peers, and strive to resolve any conflicts that arise, learning from them to grow stronger together.

What’s interesting is that this strong bond has been built, for the most part, through chats and video calls. Distance is also a part of this incredible group. We have teams based in Italy, Spain, and Argentina, made up of people from Italy, Spain, Greece, Argentina, Venezuela, and Colombia.

Despite the distance, we share many moments together, whether remotely or in person. We also come together to celebrate things like team members’ birthdays, or the Secret Santa exchange we have every Christmas. These are the perfect examples of how we nurture and strengthen our bond.

our-team

This year, we welcomed three new members to our growing team. Luca joined our support team as a developer, while Francesco Leanza celebrated the arrival of his twin daughters. Congratulations to the family!

As every year, we organized our Team Building, and after quite some time, we returned to Catania, Italy. We explored the city, had a barbecue, enjoyed delicious pizza dinners, spent some days working together in the office, and made the most of every moment during those 6 amazing days. As a company and as individuals, these experiences recharge our energy and fill us with motivation.

Christmas Magic and Togetherness

We firmly believe that Christmas is a time to share and spread happiness. That’s why, once again, we’ve joined the WordPress Gives a Hand initiative—a movement where other companies have come together to help those in need by donating a percentage of each sale to a charitable organization.

We donated 15% of every new sale made in our store between December 23 and 29. This past Christmas, we partnered with three charitable organizations that operate in the countries where our team members live: Italy, Spain, and Argentina. You can read more about this charitable initiative here
